Lets face it, 2007 was a bad year for Bodog

By Beanie

In late 2006 no one has any idea what was going on with online gaming. The UIEGA had been passed and no one really knew what to expect. Bodog pulled all of their ads in major poker publications and quit mass advertising in the United States. Then through a series of very strange events Bodog lost its URL in a patent dispute, if they were a public company they would have been out of business overnight. Luckily they were not. In late 2007 they released an underwhelming update to their interface, it is improved aesthetically but traditionally the market does not like change.

Now that all of that is behind them could 2008 once again be the year of Bodog? If you need proof that Bodog is one of the best companies here it is. Bodog has some of the best employees in the industry. That is not my opinion that is the opinion of the companies that routinely recruit Bodog employees. Bodogs pitch is simple, gambling is fun and should be enjoyed, while other sites focus on a lot of the details Bodog focuses on the experience.

I think with all of the stuff from last year behind them and a promised mass marketing campaign fun might be coming back to online gaming and it is sorely needed. So why should you or I care about Bodog being successful? Because they are in the lead when it comes to marketing expertise and customer value, many of the ideas they have had other card rooms have copied. The more options the better for the online consumer. Besides, when was the last time you heard of any party from any online poker company? The Bodog parties are the stuff of legend.
