The genesis of this site came on a day where 60 minutes did an excerpt on online poker. All of the standard questions were asked (I will paraphrase) “what about the kids”, “can you really click your mouse and lose your house?”. That was not the reality of everyone I knew. Everyone I knew owned real estate, lived interesting lives and partied like tomorrow might not come. In a way I think gamblers live a life most people would like to emulate. In real life people are paralyzed by risk, gamblers learn to embrace risk.

Another very important thing is that this site is not exclusively about poker, blackjack or any other form of gambling. This site is about the lifestyle of people that gamble. The best way to look at what we can bring to the market is this:

So who is “we”? “We” is you if you are trying to contribute something to the discussion. “We” is you if you book a house at the WSOP 4 years in advance. “We” is anyone who has ever run their last $100 into 20k on the BlackJack tables. “We” are people that take risks; “We” are also people that want to take risks but might need a little guidance. “We” do not just own poker tournaments; “we” own nightclubs, apartment buildings and stocks.

This site will be about user generated content; many of the sites that exist at the moment do something very well. This site will attempt to do a lot of things very well but with one consistent theme. THIS SITE IS NOT A TRAINING SITE, NO ONE WILL BE RANKED. There are many sites that already do those things well so we will link you to them.

Does that mean that there will be no strategy articles related to gambling? In a way that depends on you, is that what you really want? I contend that most people read gambling strategy sites in passing, the things that keep them there are the stories and communities that are built in that process. So if you want to be part of a community of people that snipes about how to play AK under the gun or when to split 8’s, this site is not likely for you. If you want to be part of a site that does a little of that but talks more about check raising Tobey MaGuire in a pot for 120k, then this is your spot.

This site is a celebration of people who live life to its fullest that just so happen to gamble occasionally.
